Culture in digiworld

First, I have to say some feedback about this course. It is great that we have people from different backrounds, cultures and religions. But. Maybe both sides should think about the subject of this week more closely. I think, we have here a confusion: how students want us to be taught and lecturers want us to learn. And my opinion is the punishment is not the right way to teach. I think that this new system, students teach each other, is not getting us to the point. I feel this method as a "punishment" for that some students did not obey the lecturers teaching methods and style.

During this week we spoke about cultures in business life and in all-day life. On Monday we had a visiter lecturer, Lynn. She spoke about the culture in her business from her own view. She have a company called Lacy Box which sells women lingerie by subscription box -method. She talked how important is to know your customers and where is the best place to find them. And of course Social Media is where to be and advertise! She gave us homework to think, how Lacy Box could manage in Finnish markets. I knew that subscription boxes are popular in outside of Finland. If you want succeed here, you have to first get people know what is subscription boxes are. For example, we do not have here custom to give those as a gift to bridesmaid like in the USA.

A subscription box gift?

Another thing what we made as group task was to find out some another country´s business manners and habits. My team picked up Hungary. We tried to learn how to make a video and here it is:

I have taught that all people and cultures are equal. That might be the reason for my passion to travel and get to know new places and people. At this point of my life I have visited some countries in Europe, Asia and Middle East. For example Japanese and Emirati cultures are extremities to each other. First thing what occured to my mind is, in Japan women roles are so different than in United Arab Emirates. When walking in a street in Tokyo, I could be and wear as myself, but in UAE I did not. That was not a big deal to me because before entering the country, I had found out there is different manners and religions in those countries.

My view of cultural baggage.

Here is my view of cultural baggage which I am carrying with me all places in my home coutry as well as in other countries where I travel. I always to try find out at least of those things before I travel. Hi! and Thank you! are many times the number one phrases which I try to learn from different and new language. And because I love to eat and drink different type of things, I eagerly try to find the tradionatiol food and drink from new cultures to me.

Some phrases which I have learned when travelling.
Next week I will tell you how to create a podcast! Never done that before, so I am looking forward to that!
